The compound is first frozen, then placed under vacuum so the ice sublimates (turns directly from solid to vapor).
Result: A dry, stable powder remains — known as lyophilized powder.
Purpose: This process preserves the molecular structure and extends shelf life without needing refrigeration.
Reconstitution: Before research use, the powder is rehydrated (usually with bacteriostatic water, or another solvent) to return it to its active form
